Let me bring two songs to your attention. Wait, by the Ying Yang Twins, and HollaBack Girl, by Gwen Stephani.

These songs have two things in common:

constant rotation on every Contemporary radio station in NYC,

Explicit Lyrics that are completely essential to the song.

Now, heres the terrible part. God help me, I actually prefer the censored radio versions. I try to console myself by saying that the producers really did a great job of using samples and what not to disguise the curses. I tell myself that leaving a bit to the imagination just makes things better. I tell myself that "ish" and "skeet" are lightly velied inside jokes, and that hearing them is actually better than hearing their more common counterparts.

Wait till you see my "OHHH!".

This ish is bananas! b-a-n-a-n-a-s!

Once the excuses are gone, I'm left with the obvious. I'm officially getting old.

Without Further Ado, I present the Movie List Meme.

I don't really know where this list comes from; first guess is box office rankings, or something like that. There are, however, some great movies that aern't on this list, that I would highly recommend.

The quasi-psuedo intellectual/existential/cool looking movies:

Pi

Waking Life

Fight Club check out the book, too: Fight Club-- by Chuck Palahniuk. (yes, it was a book before it was a movie.)

The memory centric movies:

Memento

Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind

50 first dates I also dug the soundtrack.

The most "baletic fight scenes you've ever seen" movies:

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Kill Bill

Honorable mentions:

Finding Nemo, listed below at 11, almost makes it onto the second list, mainly because of Dory.

Apparently, Requiem for a dream should also be on the first list, but I haven't seen it yet.

Run Lola Run was underwhelming, but a honorable mention for the first list.

And now, onto the actual meme. (Ironically, the lists above are more memetic than the list below...)

Here’s the rules:

Copy this list onto your own blog. Link back to my blog (add a trackback as well, if your software supports it).

NOTE TO FUTURE AUTHORS OF LAME WEB TYPE MEME THINGGEES:

if your going to do these web/blog based meme thingees, at least make them web friendly. I manually converted this list into a proper ordered list. If i had the time, I would have went through the painstaking effort of linking each item to amazon. In fact, if you had done that, you could have made a nice chunk of change on affiliate click through, and could have used that as an interesting measure of propogation... oh well, maybe next time?

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2005-07-15T17:10:21Z</dcterms:modified>
