January 30
wow... the last few weeks have (literally, at times) been a blur. Let's recap, shall we?
- We rang in the new year with a great house party. Of course, there are pictures.
- I spent a week in seattle for "technical" training.
- it rained. a whole lot!
- I noticed a growing trend in software, presentations, video games, and generally any sort of visual content blessed by marketing folk: the gratuitous reflection. Since originally writing this post, i've noticed the new gratuity in dozens of other contexts; i'll probably be posting them soon.
- Cher and George are Engaged! It's been called the great duck dupe of '06.
- I started playing with the beta of Windows Live Messenger 8.0.
- I still have some invites left, if anyone is interested.
- I haven't posted yet about how it looks generally cool, but constantly crashes.
- The "Video Rotator" thingee, which at first sounds like an absolute disaster, is actually suprisingly cool; the content is pretty compelling. For example, Thats where I found:
- Bright Eyes, at the bottom of everything, which was a catchy lil tune with a suprisingly cool video. Maybe I'm not in the right loops (note the clever foreshadowing?) but without Windows Live Messenger 8.0 (actually hurts my hands to type all that), I would have never found content like this...
- The Best Blonde Joke Ever made (and is still making) its rounds.
- I wrote something about remembering, forgetting, and watching cool movies. I don't quite remember the details...
- I found the Awful Plastic Surgery Blog, which I found particularly amusing thanks to my year-too-late addiction to Nip/Tuck. I finished watching the Season 1 and Season 2 DVDs, which were great; too bad season 3 apparently has no buzz.

- I came to grips with my inability to type without emoting.

- I joined Guy Kawasaki's FilmLoop. My entry tied for "Cutest Couple". I think I might get a free book out of the whole deal. how cool is that?
- I was reminded of how damn cool PostSecret is.
- Our Hoseguests arrived! to make a long story short, our 'lil house in maspeth has gone a bit "Real World"- Amy's Long, Long (15 years long) lost friend from ireland came to stay with us for a few (five!) weeks, and brought her boyfriend along. So far, Its been fun; its interesting having other people around. I'll keep ya'll posted on any dramatic developments.

- SUPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR KELLEY AT OUR HOUSE!!!
- or so I've heard
. Due to some previously unencountered combination of chemicals, herbs, and spices, I have absolutely no memory of the night- its all very Memento. Hopefully, some brave soul will post pictures soon...
All in all, 2006 is off to a good start... this was a relatively good January. New Years, then Seattle, Then Trivial Pursuit at Adriels house, then the Irish Invasion, then Kelley's party...It's been quite a month!
