December 24 Bloggin 'bout my doorbell...no matter what I do, I can't get this damn song out of my head- Blogging the lyrics is my last ditch effort to free myself from the madness that this awesome song is inflicting upon me... If it doesn't work, then at least i've infected you, dear reader....
The White Stripes - My Doorbell Lyrics I'm thinkin' about my doorbell When ya gonna ring it, when ya gonna ring it Yeah, I'm thinkin' about my doorbell... (repeat 2 more times) Oh, well Well with me and chipin' me and kisses? Not the man in my life I know And I been going to mystery misses I respect the art of the show Take back whan you said little girl And while you're at it take yourself back too Woman whatcha gonna do now, whatcha gonna do about it (chorus) Oh, yeah You don't seem to come around Point your finger and make a sound You don't seem to come around Not since I said you knocked it down? Oh, well Make a sound and I'll make you feel right Right at home, yeah Yeah, right at home, yeah Nobody got ......? But how come it's so easy to you You know it's like me at times I can be careless But your words seem so obtuse But then again I know you feel guilty And you tell me you want me again But I don't need any of your pity I got plenty of my own friends They're all above me (chorus) December 13 50 Cent, Joss Stone, and David Grohl walk into a bar...I've just posted the current playlist that i'm synching to my smartphone for my daily driving. Though there is clearly a strong 90's grunge influence these days, but don't pass up Nelly's Over and Over again, or Beat Your Heart Out, by the Distillers. Nelly's song is strangely addictive; you almost forget your listening to the same dude who sang Country Grammer.... And the Distillers really bring female 70's-esque punk back into my mix quite nicely. December 10 We live in a terrible, terrible world.I present to you as evidence, Toxic, by brit brit. Oh, come on, you know the song... and you know you like it, as much as you don't want to. It's catchy. It invades your thoughts at the most innapropriate times. Those Neptunes kids, they know what they're doing. Now, here's why the world is horrible.
Raise your hand if you knew that Toxic was a remake? Raise your hand if you knew that the original version was a heartfelt, rousing, acoustic song, by the Chapin Sisters?? Our society is terrible. we take good things, and make them scandelous. we then enjoy the scandelous version of life immensely more than the original, bland, but real version.
*btw, i understand that there really are much worse things in the world than brit brit remakes... but in my little corner of the world right now, the toxic revelation is about all i can fit in my head.
update: apparently, I'm a dork. The Chapin Sisters actually remade toxic, not the other way around. so, my case for the decay of society based on brit brit might be a bit weak right now... however, I'm sure that the fact that brit's version is so well known, and the chapin sisters are known by the dozen or so people that visited their site should count for something, no? December 07 begone, black socks and sandals! So, I was ready to officially announce the end of my youthful days. I was ready to break out my black socks and sandles, and wave my old-man cane in the air. I was about to completely relinquish my right to consider myself young, all thanks to the Sugar, we're going down, by Fall Out Boy. Very, very, disturbingly catchy song... which I was completely unable to decipher for weeks. Like, completely unable. To understand. The lyrics in a rock song. so damn lame.
Yah, I was ready to hang up my young cred... but then, i saw the video. More specifically, the live performance available OnDemand through my cable company. The song started to make sense. I gave in, and searched for the lyrics...
Am I more than you bargained for yet
I've been dying to tell you anything you want to hear Cause that's just who I am this week Lie in the grass, next to the mausoleum I'm just a notch in your bedpost* But you're just a line in a song* Drop a heart, break a name We're always sleeping in, and sleeping for the wrong team* ...
Is this more than you bargained for yet
Oh don't mind me I'm watching you two from the closet Wishing to be the friction in your jeans* *'s denote frickin badass lyrics, btw. :)
diggin that. :) yah, i can actually hear this song now... the lyrics pwn, and, though I can't quite explain it, i actually get the song. I mean, the song is nothing revolutionary... I don't think F.O.B. will be around in a year or two... but at least I'm keeping up with these damn whippersnappers. July 15 More guilty pleasure.
First, Kelly Clarkson. Now, Mimi. We Belong Together, by Mariah Carey. Such a damn good pop song... Don't even act like you aint feelin it. |
